A-Star Coaching

Additional Services PDF Print E-mail

In addition to our lunchtime provision and after school clubs we offer the following services:

  • PPA cover, free up members of school staff enabling them to plan, prepare, assess and keep up to date with their workload
  • PE lessons, from movement exercises to sports coaching in accordance with national curriculum targets
  • Pupil mentoring, one to one coaching and interaction to improve a child’s physical and emotional wellbeing
  • Teacher training and coaching technique modelling, helping teachers to improve the quality of their PE lessons

It’s not easy to balance the demands of PPA within a busy school day, but with so many studies reinforcing the importance of health and fitness of children, a break in the teacher’s schedule offers the perfect opportunity for sport.  As professional sports coaching specialists, our highly qualified staff can ensure that your school meets Government targets in PE.

Our sessions will cover a variety of sports and activities which incorporate the National Curriculum requirements and lesson plans. We are able to tailor sessions that meet the needs of pupils from reception through to year six and all delivered in a professional and structured manner.

Our coaches will motivate the children and encourage them to participate by using different techniques and activities.

Research has shown that when PE and school sport provision is of the highest quality, all young people will, to the best of their abilities, develop and demonstrate the following personal qualities:

  • a strong desire to learn and make progress
  • high levels of dedication, attendance and involvement in PE and school sport
  • good levels of positive behaviour such as politeness, fair play and helpfulness; and high levels of enjoyment and enthusiasm
  • improved self esteem and confidence
  • a strong desire to get involved

Developing these personal qualities affects young people’s attitudes to school and learning and this has a positive impact on the whole school.

Organised sports offer the opportunity for children to participate in a fun and safe environment and it also aids children’s concentration throughout the day. Regular exercise can also improve behaviour, "Schools that enhance PE and school sport provision have seen an improvement in behaviour, especially where they have organised sporting events during lunch," says Crichton Casbon, PE consultant at the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. “Sport helps pupils concentrate better and can increase attendance."

A-Star Coaching can tailor a package to suit the specific needs of each school, based on their requirements and budget. Please contact us to discuss how we could work with your school.
